Why Reissiger? Reissiger was a highly-esteemed figure during his time, but now is all but forgotten. His enormous output for piano trio is seldom performed despite the quality of the music - Robert Schumann described this beautiful music as ‘...jewel-like...his music never fatigues the ear, but holds our attention to the very end.’

Concert 1

Relative Harmonies

Concert 1 juxtaposes two compositions which are constructed around the same tonal centre of F-sharp minor. The romantic melodies of Reissiger's Fourth Trio and the elegance of Boughton's Celtic Prelude are contrasted superbly by the dramatic language of Babajanian's trio.
