About the event
Concert 1 (10 April) present the first publishhed works of two composers whose careers were linked by a comon figure - Antonio Salieri. Both Reissiger and Beethoven spent time under the tutelage of Salieri, a formidable figure in the Viennese music scene of the time. We look at their earliest forays into the piano trio genre.
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Trio Op.1, No.3 in C minor
Carl Gottlieb Reissiger: Piano Trio No.1 in D minor, Op.25
Concert 2 (24 July) turns up the passion with the evocative and emotive early work of Sergei Rachmaninoff juxtaposed with the ebullient Romanticism of Reissiger's 2nd trio. The concert also includes a new work by TAM pianist Kenji Fujimura, the commission generously supported by the City of Melbourne.
