Trio Anima Mundi returns to Melbourne and Geelong in 2026 with their 3-concert series - The Romantic, The Muse, and The Gypsy. Join us for a captivating three-concert series that explores the rich, expressive power of the piano trio. Be immersed in each program’s unique sound-world, from the sweeping, forgotten melodies of the British Romantics to the chic elegance of Belle Époque Paris, and culminating in the unstoppable fire of European folk traditions.

While names like Elgar and Vaughan Williams often take the spotlight, a wealth of breathtakingly beautiful music lies waiting to be rediscovered. This program unearths three forgotten masterpieces, filled with lush harmonies, soaring melodies, and a deeply passionate spirit. From the rhapsodic intensity of O’Neill and Friskin to Hurlstone’s exquisitely crafted trio, this is chamber music that speaks directly to the soul—a truly romantic experience.

This enchanting program celebrates the era's creative spirit, placing two brilliant female composers alongside a celebrated master. Experience the perfumed, exotic dreamscape of Mel Bonis’ Suite Orientale, the effortless charm and passion of Cécile Chaminade's trio, and finally, Saint-Saëns’ famous musical dialogue between creator and inspiration, The Muse and the Poet. This is a portrait of Parisian grace and timeless artistry.

A concert of pure, unbridled energy and virtuosic fire. The "Gypsy" spirit—with its captivating rhythms and soulful melodies—has inspired composers for centuries. Our season finale begins with Haydn’s beloved trio, culminating in its famous and furiously fun "Gypsy Rondo." From there, we leap into the 20th century with the sharp, folk-infused brilliance of Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, before surrendering to the epic drama and raw, heartfelt passion of Arno Babajanian’s Armenian masterpiece. A truly exhilarating conclusion to our series!
